Basic info

In the year of 1948, a group of talented jazz musicians formed the Jazz Association of Secret Spies, also known as JASS. Their main directive: maintain world peace at all costs. As one of their agents goes missing in Egypt they send Hank, their most recent hire, to investigate what they believe to be a routine mission.

Join Hank in his journey to Giza as he unravels secret conspiracies and sheds light on ancient mysteries. Help him to sneak past his enemies, use his hat gadget to solve different puzzles, and gain different powers that will help him make his way through 5 different locations.

Inspired by the classics of the 16-bit era, the 1950’s jazz scene, and Ancient Egyptian mythology, Hank’s Voyage combines platforming with stealth and sci-fi elements mingled with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor.

  • Fight your way through 5 distinct worlds featuring hand-drawn characters and environments.

  • Experience an original, atmospheric soundtrack with jazzy vibes.

  • Use your hat as a multi-purpose gadget to solve various puzzles.

  • Collect hats to unlock unique powers.

  • Sneak past and outwit your enemies.

  • Test your skills in several different mini-games.

  • Find hidden treasures and unlock secret levels.

  • Endure an offbeat story with colorful characters and a comic book style.

Is the game already complete?

No, but there is a demo available here. This demo has 4 playable levels and 1 extra unlockable challenge level.

Does the whole game take place in Giza?

Does the whole game take place in Giza?

Even though all the game events take place in Egypt, the Worlds feature different environments (Catacombs, Pyramid, etc) and they will all introduce their enemies and game mechanics or twists on the already established ones.

How long is the game?

The current demo should take you 30 mins to 1 hour.

The complete game will have 5 Worlds with 8 levels each and 1 boss fight per World. Giza is the 1st World.

Depending on one's skill level and playstyle, the game will most likely take 8-15 hours to finish by beating the mandatory 40 levels. For 100% completion, there will be roughly double the amount of content, doubling the completion time as well.

How long will it take to complete the development?

In the best-case scenario, we will manage to finish the development in the 1st quarter of 2022. That will heavily depend on our resources. That said, we hope to generate some interest in the game and be able to approach a publisher and/or run a crowdfunding campaign soon. Let's not talk about the worst-case scenario just yet.

How long have you been working on it?

The very first version of the game was developed in 2014 as a student project. The game in its current form has been in development since 2019 as a spare time activity.

What platforms is it going to be available for?

The latest demo is available for PC (Windows, macOS, Linux, WebGL). The demo will be available on Steam as well after some practicalities are taken care of.

We would like to develop for the Nintendo Switch as well but it is not yet confirmed.

Seriously though, can I play the game on my Android?

Unfortunately no. We don’t currently have any plans for mobile devices. If that ever happens though, it will not be the same game.

Is it going to be for free?

Of course, we are not planning to charge anything for our current demo or any other future demo but the finished game will not be for free. The estimated cost of the finished game will be close to 10 euros.

What was your inspiration for the game?

The main inspiration for Hank's Voyage is 2D platformers from the 16-bit era such as Disney's Aladdin, The Lion King, and Indiana Jones's Greatest Adventures, even though the puzzle element will be more pronounced compared to the mentioned games.

Thematically the game is very obviously inspired by ancient Egypt, the jazz scene of the 1950s, and spy fiction in general.
